BDAT Initial Teacher Training
Leeds Trinity University has a long-standing reputation for being one of the UK’s most respected teacher training providers. The University was founded as a teacher training college in 1966 and while it has diversified and expanded over the years, an unwavering commitment to providing outstanding teacher training remains at the heart of Leeds Trinity.
Understanding that everyone comes to the PGCE with different levels of experience and confidence, Leeds Trinity structures its PGCE programmes in a way that gives trainees the time to gradually develop their confidence and capability at their own pace. Trainees receive a mix of research-informed practice, school-based training and plenty of one-to-one support, delivered by highly experienced teachers who are also national leaders in their subjects.
The results of this approach speak for themselves, with 98% of the University’s most recent PGCE graduates in professional-level roles six months after graduating. Alumni also have an excellent track record in progressing to senior positions – from becoming head teachers and heads of pastoral care, to founding their own schools abroad.
