BDAT Initial Teacher Training
Leeds Trinity University has a long-standing reputation for being one of the UK’s most respected teacher training providers. The University was founded as a teacher training college in 1966 and while it has diversified and expanded over the years, an unwavering commitment to providing outstanding teacher training remains at the heart of Leeds Trinity.
Understanding that everyone comes to the PGCE with different levels of experience and confidence, Leeds Trinity structures its PGCE programmes in a way that gives trainees the time to gradually develop their confidence and capability at their own pace. Trainees receive a mix of research-informed practice, school-based training and plenty of one-to-one support, delivered by highly experienced teachers who are also national leaders in their subjects.
The results of this approach speak for themselves, with 98% of the University’s most recent PGCE graduates in professional-level roles six months after graduating. Alumni also have an excellent track record in progressing to senior positions – from becoming head teachers and heads of pastoral care, to founding their own schools abroad.
GORSE SCITT Bradford is an exciting adaptation of our outstanding original model. We have been specifically asked by the Department for Education to complement the existing ITE (Initial Teacher Education) offer in the Bradford region.
GORSE SCITT is a School Centred Initial Teacher Training provider. We offer the full PGCE (Post Graduate Certificate of Education) and full QTS (Qualified Teacher Status). Our training programme lasts for one academic year. We are the only “Outstanding” provider of secondary teacher training in the Yorkshire and Humber region. We offer training for Primary and Secondary (all subjects). Many subjects attract a very generous tax-free bursary.
GORSE SCITT has a successful track record of developing outstanding secondary school teachers. We have excellent rates of employability of our graduates both within our alliance schools and also elsewhere in the Yorkshire region and beyond. We have partner schools in Leeds, Bradford, East Yorkshire and Hull.
All of the schools in our partnership have a track record of outstanding and transformational provision for young people and a strong commitment to developing outstanding future teaching professionals. The school placements offer experience of the real world of education in schools where excellence is modelled and supported. This ensures a solid foundation for development towards Qualified Teacher Status and a successful teaching career.
Across our partner schools there are many Subject Experts, Advanced Skills Teachers, Trained Coaches, Mentors and Outstanding Leaders to support and guide trainees through their first year in teaching.
