An education based on Christian values
The school aims to provide an education of real breadth through the subjects which are taught, the development of our extra curricular activities and the way we live together. We firmly believe that such an ethos, informed by Christian values in all we do, affords the best possible environment for pupils to grow intellectually, spiritually, morally and socially. We aim to see pupils developing enquiring minds, working with a sense of purpose towards future goals, as well as living their lives to the full.
We aim to enhance the learning of all pupils by looking for educational opportunities beyond our own environment. We strive to bring into the school additional expertise from business and the worlds of work and leisure. Pupils are encouraged to participate in a range of activities including regular trips and visits, sports, music and drama events. Finally, all parents, friends and members of the local community are invited to play a part in the development of the school meeting together for enjoyment, the discussion of raising attainment strategies and for fund raising. |

Worship and Religious Education
Pupils participate in a daily act of worship. These are either year or form assemblies. In addition there are regular services, some of which are Holy Communion, to which parents are welcome.
Although the school is associated with the Church of England, this is not to the exclusion of others. We find it of great value to be able to call upon ministers and members from local Anglican churches and also other denominations across North Bradford. They provide an essential element in the school’s spiritual life through participation in assemblies and other activities.
The school has two Chaplains one who is ordained in the Church of England and one who works for the Salvation Army. One of their responsibilities is the development of links between the school, local churches and the wider Christian community. They are also available to provide support and counselling to all members of the Immanuel school community.
While the Christian influence informs all aspects of teaching and learning, considerable importance is attached to the teaching of Religious Education. The school follows the agreed Religious Education Syllabus of the Bradford Diocesan Board of Education, which is available for parents to see on request.
All students at Immanuel College take Religious Education as a full GCSE course. It is expected that all children will attend Religious Education and collective worship, since we trust that those choosing a place for their daughters and sons at Immanuel will be in sympathy with its Christian ethos. |
