Studying Post 16 is different to being in Year 11. You choose the subjects you would like to study and you have study lessons on your timetable where you are responsible for organising your own work. Post 16 students have their own area in school; a common room, an ICT suited study room, lockers and a café/dining area. Post 16 students take more responsibility for their own progress as part of developing into young adults. Our students enjoy their time with us.
In year 12 you will have the opportunity, if needed, to improve your GCSE Maths and English grades. In addition you will be able to sit AS level general studies at the end of year 12 if you have a B in Maths and English at GCSE.
All year 12 students take part in enrichment activities, usually on a Wednesday afternoon, which include the opportunity to work in the community, take part in the Duke of Edinburgh award, complete a first aid certificate, sports activities. There will also be one lesson a week for PD, where students work with their form tutors.
Each student’s timetable will also contain study lessons. These lessons are not taught by teachers and students will be expected to use the sixth form study facilities to complete homework, wide reading and revision.
