On Friday 16th November the Lord Mayor Councillor Dale Smith spent the morning at Immanuel College. The Lord Mayor, who is also a governor at the College, met with Post 16 students who were wearing fancy dress to raise funds for Children in Need. The Lord Mayor was welcomed by the School Council with representatives from each year group. The students quizzed the Lord Mayor on
his role and listened to his views on what he liked about Bradford. The students also discussed with him what they liked about their district and what they would like to see improved. Immanuel students and staff thoroughly enjoyed the visit. The School Council especially found the Lord Mayor’s thoughts on Bradford’s diversity interesting; in particular they were surprised to learn that 67 different languages are spoken in the district. The Lord Mayor left his visit with an offer to students to come and have a tour of the town hall and take tea with the Lord and Lady Mayoress. Ten students will be taking him up on his offer in January.
